The biggest arguments from pizza chefs all over the world can be had over what is the easiest and the quickest crunchy Italian Pizza recipe. The good news is that there are lots of recipes to choose from.
So What Ingredients go into this crunchy Italian pizza?
Naturally this can vary as much as the number of pizza chefs. Some well known chefs say that the crispy crunch of the crust comes from the type of flour that goes into making the dough. Bread flour is one variety of flour that you can use to make crunchier dough. Other chefs swear by good old fashioned all purpose flour. Do you use a pizza stone? Do I need to use a pizza oven? I’d say stick to your own style, even if that means finding it by trial and error. However you choose, here is one that you can begin with:
Quick and Easy Crunchy Italian Pizza
For this recipe you will need:
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon of active dry or instant yeast
- 2 cups all purpose unbleached flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven, setting it to 500 degrees Fahrenheit or whatever your highest setting may be.
Place the yeast in a bowl and add water gradually while stirring. Keep doing this until the yeast is dissolved. The mixture should be thin.
Add the flour and salt to the mixture, mixing the dough to a rough texture. At this point you can continue to mix the dough by kneading on a board or on your countertop covered with a little flour. Do this until the dough is smooth and somewhat tacky. You can add small amounts of flour as needed to get the dough to the desired consistency. Cover the dough and set aside.
You can prepare your toppings at this point if you want to let your dough rest, or go ahead and stretch your dough out thinly on your pizza pan or use a large piece of parchment paper. Another option could be your pizza stone. If you choose, split the dough in half for two medium pizzas or if your oven is large enough, use all the dough for an extra large pizza.
Spread your sauce on thinly and add your toppings. Remember, you’re the boss here so you choose. Of course Mozzarella cheese, mushrooms and pre cooked sausage are a good start! Bake your pizza for 5 minutes or until the crust is golden brown along with the cheese. Let cool at least 5 minutes.
